Dossiê Rê Bordosa
This short-movie, directed by César Cabral and produced by Coala Filmes, is a documentary made in stop motion that investigates the reasons that took brazilian comic artist Angeli to murder his most famous creation, the junkie character Rê Bordosa, in the late 80´s. All people interviewed were transformed in stop motion characters, based on a stylistic research of Angeli´s drawings and characters.
I collaborated with all the Art Direction and Concept Art, and the poster for the film. Also directed the post-production and the tabletop animations together with my friends Ian Sampaio, Francisco Beraldo, Danilo Enoki and Carlo Médici. Above is a montage of some scenes and below are some frames from the movie.
The movie won several awards, including two for best Art Direction, on the 13th Brazilian Film Festival, in Miami, and by the technical jury on the Guarnicê Film Festival. For an almost complete list of awards see the Dossiê Rê Bordosa Official Web Site.
Below are the concept arts for the characters and scenarios. Basically we tried to bring Angeli´s line and style to the tridimensional world of the characters and scenarios as much as possible. The goal was to use these environments as a way to differentiate the testimonies and help adding more personality to the characters.
